1. The Murchison River
Alongside the town of Kalbarri flows the Murchison River home to a wide variety of fish. Black bream, Mulloway, Whiting, Mangrove Jack, Giant Herring and Trevally are just some of the many fish to catch. At the river mouth is a rocky maze hotspot for tailor, mulloway, pink snapper, skippy and tarwhine.
Canoes and dinghies can be cheaply hired to take a trip around the different sections which are, more often than not, very safe for inexperience boaties.
2. Wittecarra Creek
Beside the Dirk Hartog Island flows the Wittecarra Creek, filled with tailor up to 7 - 9kg. A deep hole is opposite the mouth of the creek, with opportunities to catch tailor, mulloway, whiting, dart and tarwhine.
3. Red Bluff
In the corner of the rocks at Red Bluff is a great area for garfish over the summer. A good spot for tailor is the flat reef at the waters edge on the beach running north from the rocks.
4. Blue Holes
In the northern end of the car park at the Blue Holes, tailor of up to 4 - 5kg is not uncommon.
5. Wagoe
Spanish mackerel, spanish mackerel, mulloway, tuna and more can be found at the Wagoe beach just south of Kalbarri. Though the Wagoe is privately owned and you will need to stay in the chalets to fish there.
